Policing and Community Safety Survey

The Medicine Hat Police Commission is launching a month-long public survey campaign to gather input from the community about perceptions of policing and community safety.

“Our goal is to better understand and respond to community concerns about public safety in our city”, says Chair Sandy Redden. “As a Commission we will use the results to assist us as we work with the Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) to develop a strategic plan for the Service and outline objectives for the next business cycle.”

Framework Partners Inc., a strategic planning and market research firm was contracted to independently gather and interpret the feedback received.

Topics covered in the survey will include:

  • General Safety
  • Communication Initiatives
  • Road Safety
  • Uniformed Patrols and Traffic Section
  • Criminal Investigation
  • Trust and Confidence
  • Medicine Hat Police Commission

Individual responses will be kept confidential and will not be shared with the MHPS other than in summary form. To complete their research, Framework Partners Inc. will conduct a sample survey, in which residents will be randomly selected to either complete a telephone interview or recruit to online survey.

The results will be compared to previous surveys and the general findings will be reported to the community during the February 2022 Open Police Commission meeting.
