The Medicine Hat Police Commission holds open public meetings on the third Thursday of each month starting at 6:00PM in the Community Boardroom of the Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) located at 884 2nd Street SE, Medicine Hat.
To enhance transparency and accountability to the citizens of Medicine Hat, the Police Commission welcomes members of the public to attend the open meetings to hear updates on policing activities and matters concerning community safety. There is a standing “public consultation” opportunity on the agenda of the open meeting for members of the community to provide their input to the Commission about policing in the community or to ask a question.
Please note that complaints about officer conduct and MHPS policies are not topics for this forum as there is a process under the Alberta Police Act for such matters.
Ongoing investigations and personnel matters are not to be discussed in Open Meetings as per the provisions set out in the Alberta Police Act.
When requesting a response from the Police Commission it is recommended to submit a question or concern in writing one week in advance of the Police Commission meeting you wish to attend to Mr. Greg Keen, Police Commission Chair at firstname.lastname@example.org. The written option is preferred as it provides the Police Commission ample time to research the question or concern and provide an informed response. Not submitting the question ahead of time, may result in a delayed response.
